Homemade beef stroganoff is one of my favorite go to’s when I need to go to the grocery store but I just need something quick. It’s super easy and there are a few ways to enjoy it.
This recipe is perfect for a lazy Saturday or a busy week night when you don’t have much time to throw something together.
This recipe is based off my mom’s family recipe with a few touches of my own. I don’t generally measure out my ingredients so I apologize a head of time. lol. As I said before I love this recipe because even if you are running low on things at home you most likely have the ingredients to make some stroganoff.
You’ll need 1lb. of ground beef, two cans of cream of mushroom, and milk. You’ll also need to decide what you want your stroganoff served over. I prefer it to be served with pasta but you can also serve it over rice or mashed potatoes.
Next you’ll need to brown the beef. This is where you’ll want to add spices if you wish. I did salt, pepper, garlic salt, onion powder, and minced garlic (I love garlic if you couldn’t tell lol). Again, I don’t measure it out.
Then my beef is about half way cooked is generally when I start to cook my noodles but if you are cooking rice you’ll want to wait longer since rice doesn’t take very long to cook.
Once your hamburger is finished cooking you’ll add both cans of cream of mushroom and the milk. Now, the recipe calls for 1 can of milk – not canned milk – but I decided to add some sour cream because I needed to use it up before it went bad so I only did a 1/2 can of milk and a big dollop of sour cream.
Now that everything is combined you can serve over rice, pasta or mashed potatoes. I personally like to mix my pasta in with the stroganoff as you see below.
I hope you enjoyed this recipe! Please let me know your thoughts and how you changed it to your liking!
